Chiropractic works great together with massage therapy as one takes care of the muscles, ligaments and facia and the other the joints, bones and skeletal structure. They complement each other perfectly which make them the modalities most utilized to treat structural unbalances promoted by repetitive motions/activities, sport and work-related injuries or accidents. Most treatments run for 15 or 30 minutes each and is tailored to the person’s specific needs and conditions.
These are the 10 most common benefits reported from chiropractic:
- Improves joint mobility, function and health.
- Loose tight muscles and improves the contractibility (thereby strength) of the muscle.
- Decreases degeneration of the joint and connective tissues (arthritis).
- Decreases the ongoing inflammatory process associated with the subluxation.
- Improves circulation taking stagnant blood out and bringing new blood in.
- Speeds up the recovery process.
- Improves nerve system function.
- Strengthens the immune system.
- Increases energy, vitality and improves sleep.
- Relieves/Improves Prenatal Discomfort
About Our Chiropractor
My name is Dr. Luke Mattison. I grew up with chiropractic for most of my life and had my first chiropractic adjustment a couple of months after I was born. My father was and my mother is a chiropractor. I have been a practicing chiropractor since 2009 after graduating from the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in 2008. I have worked for almost 3 years in Connecticut before moving to California in 2012 where I have since been practicing.
I specialize in pain relief and wellness. I use various chiropractic techniques including manual technique, SOT blocking, drop technique, activator, applied kinesiology and various muscle therapies and incorporate them all together to perform a head-to-toe full body adjustment. The reason for this adjustment and what I tell everyone that I adjust is that “Everything is Connected”. One of the most common misconceptions that we have about our body is that we think that the problem begins only when we have pain. This is absolutely not true. Our body goes through a wear and tear process. You repeat the same habits day in/day out for years. All that wear and tear will catch up to you and then it turns into pain. Accidents only exacerbate that wear and tear with trauma.
I am very thorough. It is my belief that adjusting the full body accelerates the healing process quicker than treating just the area of complaint. I also explain what and why I am doing with my first adjustment to address any concerns and fears anyone might have. My goal is to not only give everyone I adjust the best chiropractic adjustment they have ever had, but to give them a full Chiropractic Experience!
Neurological Weakness
I also use a technique that correlates with fatigue and neurological weakness that I call “Swiping”. Certain muscles hit a point of fatigue that is often insidious. This fatigue or weakness is often due to wear and tear and the daily repetitive habits that we have. I used this technique to help people who are experiencing carpel tunnel pain, grip strength issue, eye issues including eye weakness, blurriness and even eye pain.
