Hot Shots and Preteam are developmental programs designed to help young girls transition from preschool classes up to the competitive team.
Hotshots - Hotshots is a program for 4 & 5 year olds who have strong listening skills, follow directions well, and work hard. Hotshots focuses on strength training and body shaping while learning skills on all four gymnastics events to help prepare girls for pre-team.
Pre-team - TKG’s beginner level for boys and girls who wish to one day be on competitive teams. Pre-team focuses on strength training and fundamental skills required at the competitive levels. While the skill curriculum may seem slower paced than a traditional level 1 beginner class, there is a stronger emphasis on technique and execution in pre-team. This technique-based curriculum as well as increased training hours, helps prepare children for the competitive program.

Girls Team
Junior Olympic Program (J.O.) - The Junior Olympic program is the largest competitive program within USA Gymnastics. It requires a great deal of commitment for both the athlete and the family. The Junior Olympic path is divided into two tiers of competition.
The entry levels for J.O. athletes are referred to as compulsory levels or level 2 - level 5. These girls compete a set routine on all four events that is determined by USA Gymnastics. Every compulsory athlete in the United States competes the same routines. The compulsory gymnast competes in a season beginning in late August and culminating at State Championships in mid November.
The second tier in the Junior Olympic path is referred to as Optionals, or level 6-10. The competitive season begins in January and ends in May with Level 10 National Championships. Optional athletes are required to travel more than compulsory gymnasts because they compete against girls from multiple states and regions. Many Junior Olympic athletes are selected to receive both full and partial NCAA athletic scholarships. Junior Olympic athletes train between 12 and 25 hours per week.
TOPs, HOPES, Elite - Often times girls see gymnastics on television and dream of one day seeing themselves on that screen. Olympic and National level gymnastics follows a set of rules and guidelines set by the Federation of International Gymnastics or F.I.G. Within the United States these rules and guidelines are often referred to as elite gymnastics. The requirements and commitment at this level of sport are very intense. Elite gymnasts are often required to attend national training camps, additional competitions and verifications outside of their regular competition season.
Boys Team
USAG Boys season begins in late November and culminates in April. Level 4 boys finish their season by competing in the Team State Championships held in late March/early April every year. Level 5 and up have the opportunity to qualify to compete in State and Regional championships as well as Nationals at level 8 and up.
